Two Hearts Homes for Seniors is a unique area of senior care designed to assist residents with activities of daily living while providing privacy and comfort as if they were in their own home.
“Finding an assisted living home for my Grandmother was not easy. Suffering from Alzheimer’s, my Grandma was very overwhelmed by the large facilities and the high volume of residents living there. Each place we tried, she would get lost and nobody knew her name.” Janel, founder of Two Hearts Home for Seniors also stated “the elderly deserve to be cared for with the utmost respect and dignity, not to live life only to be known as a room number in the end.” Between Janel, a registered nurse and former college professor and her husband, Ed, Two Hearts Home for Seniors was created.
The home for seniors is a 16-bedroom ranch-style house. Almost everyone who comes to visit says something along the lines of “wow, I thought I was walking into the wrong place! This is actually a HOME!” Each resident has their own room with a private bathroom and shower in each. The intimacy of the home is for those who require help with daily activities but still want to feel like they are at home rather than in a large facility. The open concept of the main area is based on the feeling of family where residents dine together for meals and visit with each other on the comfort of couches just like at home. With 24-hour caregivers present and homemade meals, residents at Two Hearts feel safe and well taken care of. Those living in the home feel supported not only by the caregivers but each other (just like family).

Two Hearts Home for Seniors that provides care for seniors in an environment that feels like home. We are located in Lowell and soon to be in Crown Point, Indiana, and offer personalized care for seniors who require some help with daily living, but want to feel as if they are at home. We are here to help with everyday activities like cooking, cleaning, and reminding residents to take medications. Our vision is to create a place for seniors in the retirement community that feels like they are a part of a family.
Our location is unique in that we are in a ranch-style house that allows us to provide our residents with a more personal and intimate experience than other assisted living facilities. One of the unique benefits of living at Two Hearts is the open floor plan, including a large great room, dining area, and kitchen, which encourages community and a family feel. We also have a large garden, walking trails, and a solarium for our residents to enjoy.
We hope that our facility encourages residents’ independence, but provides the help and support they might need. We want to create an environment where each resident feels like part of a family, supported by caregivers and other residents.

At Two Hearts, we know that emergencies can happen at any time or place; this is why we provide 24-hour care and supervision in our retirement facilities. We do not hire caregivers to “float” like some independent living communities do, but ensure we assign every caregiver a certain group of residents they take care of throughout their shift.
Physician and Nurse On Call 24 Hours A Day
When you live at Two Hearts, we provide our residents with access to a physician and nurse 365 days a year. We have several professional caregivers who provide skilled nursing care around the clock, so you never have to worry about an emergency.
On-Site Doctor Visits
Our physician makes frequent visits to our facility to check our residents’ health conditions and administer any needed medical care. Although residents pay for some of the medical services offered, it keeps them from traveling for doctor appointments, saving them time and stress.
The on-site doctor visit includes: primary care, care transitions, physical therapists, phlebotomy, and other services for assisted living homes, assisted living facilities, and skilled nursing homes all over the Northwest Indiana area. Read More.

Everyone loves the feeling of looking their best and we want to encourage that feeling of self-esteem for all of our residents. To further this cause, we provide a beauty salon on-site where senior living residents can receive various beauty treatments, including haircuts, manicures, and massages.
Dietician-Approved Home-Cooked Meals
At Two Hearts, we understand that the elderly have different dietary needs. This is why we have dietician-approved meals and recipes for our caregivers to prepare for our residents. We also offer healthy and specialty diet plans for those with specific dietary needs.
Our meal plan service, Grove Menu, specializes in meals for meal preparation for nursing homes, skilled facilities, and assisted living facilities.
