THE HONEST CONVERSATION ABOUT COST

Before we talk about price — let us tell you what you are actually paying for.

Most families start by asking “how much does assisted living cost?” That is the right question. But it is the second question. The first one is: what does the daily life of someone I love actually look like here? If the answer is right, the price becomes a lot easier to talk about.

WHAT YOU ARE REALLY ASKING

The real question isn’t “how much?”
It’s “is it worth it?”

We have had this conversation with hundreds of families. What they are almost never really asking is about the number. What they are asking is: will my mother be safe? Will she be happy? Will anyone actually care about her — or will she be another room number in a long hallway?

Those are questions that a price tag cannot answer. So let us answer them first. And then we will tell you exactly what our care costs — with no runaround, no “call for pricing,” and no surprises at the end of the month.

THE TWO HEARTS DIFFERENCE

This is what you cannot get
anywhere else in Crown Point or Lowell.

We are not going to tell you we are “the best.” We are going to tell you specifically what we do that most facilities cannot — or will not.
01

A caregiver who knows how your dad takes his coffee

In a 16-resident home, caregivers are not managing a hallway of strangers. They know every person, every preference, every mood pattern. When your father is having a hard morning, someone notices before he even has to say anything.
02

The highest caregiver-to-resident ratio in the area

1 caregiver for every 6 residents during the day. Awake overnight staff, every night, always. At most facilities, one person covers 15 to 20 residents at once. We think that is not care — it is crowd management.

03

Your phone call gets answered by someone who knows your mom

When you call a large facility, you reach a front desk. When you call Two Hearts, you reach someone who was with your mother this morning. We keep families informed proactively — not just when something goes wrong.
04

Memory care that works because of the size, not despite it

Large memory care wings are inherently disorienting — changing faces, long hallways, institutional noise. Our home: 16 residents, familiar caregivers, consistent routines, and genuine calm. For a loved one with dementia, this is the single most important factor in their daily wellbeing.
05

Home-cooked meals, every single day

Not a cafeteria line. Not pre-portioned trays. Fresh, dietician-approved meals prepared in our kitchen daily. We know every dietary restriction, every preference, every food that reminds someone of home.
06

Locally owned. Family operated. Not a franchise.

We built this business because our own family went through exactly what yours is going through right now. We live in Crown Point and Lowell. We know these communities. And we built something we would want for our own grandmother.

THE TRUE COST OF CARE

What families are often already spending — without realizing it

The comparison that matters is not assisted living vs. doing nothing. It is assisted living vs. what in-home care actually costs when you add everything up honestly.

In-home aide (40 hrs/week)

At Indiana average rate of ~$26/hr
$4,500 / Per Month

Overnight coverage (not included above)

+$1,200 / Per Month

Meals, groceries, preparation

+$600 / Per Month

Housekeeping, laundry, errands

+$400 / Per Month

Home modifications for safety

Grab bars, ramps, fall monitoring — one-time
+$3–8K / One Time

In-home care total (realistic)

Excluding home modifications
$6,700+ / Per Month

A note on these numbers:  In-home care estimates are based on Indiana state averages for non-medical home care aides. Actual costs vary depending on hours needed, agency fees, and care complexity. We encourage families to do this math honestly for their specific situation — and we are happy to walk through it with you.

WHAT FAMILIES TELL US

After the decision is made here is what they say

“We were nervous about the cost at first. But when I added up what we were spending on in-home care plus the worry — it was actually less. And Mom is happier than she has been in years.”

Lisa R.
Daughter of resident · Crown Point

“Two Hearts is unlike any other senior residence facility in the area. It is a warm home filled with sweet caregivers. The food is all homemade and fantastic, and the home is immaculate.”

Hannah C.
Family of resident

“As mother aged from her 90s to 100, Two Hearts provided social, physical, and personal care beyond what we were capable of providing. We felt like we had an extended family.”

PER HOUR

$8/hr

CAREGIVER RATIO

1:6

PAYING FOR CARE

We will help you figure out how to make this work

Navigating the financial side of assisted living can be overwhelming. Here is what most families use — and how we can help you think through your options.

Private pay (most common)

Most families pay monthly using savings, retirement funds, Social Security income, or proceeds from a home sale. We will help you plan realistically for what this looks like over time.

Long-term care insurance

If your loved one has a long-term care policy, it may cover a significant portion of assisted living costs. We will help you understand what your policy covers and how to file a claim.

Home equity & real estate proceeds

Many families use proceeds from selling a parent’s home to fund care. This is often a larger resource than expected — and a meaningful way to use those proceeds.

Veterans benefits (VA Aid & Attendance)

Veterans and surviving spouses may qualify for the VA Aid & Attendance benefit — which can provide meaningful monthly assistance toward assisted living costs.

TALK TO US

The first conversation is just that — a conversation

Real pricing, not a runaround

We will tell you exactly what care costs for your loved one’s specific needs — on the first call.

A cost comparison we will do with you

We will help you honestly compare Two Hearts against in-home care, other facilities, or whatever option you are considering.

No pressure. No sales script.

Our job is to help you make the right decision — even if that is not us.
